Through innovation and collaboration we can unlock great opportunities to improve the sustainability of our industry
Leading our industry into a brighter, more sustainable future
When you choose Dulux Trade products, you can be assured that we will deliver sustainable value and support you in achieving your sustainability ambitions. We are committed to pioneering new possibilities to do more with less on behalf of the decorating industry, reducing not only our own product footprint but also enabling our customers to reduce theirs. We have continually proven our leadership with the field of sustainability, here are some of our accomplishments which we are particularly proud of.
Reducing VOC's in our products
Our business is committed to radically reducing the VOCs in our products.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) are solvents, which readily evaporate and contribute to the formation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. VOC's can form a significant part of the environmental impact of our products especially when they are solvent-based. This is why we are switching from solvent-based to water-based wherever possible across all our brands. Our vision is for our trim paint category to be primarily water-based by 2020 and that we will have alternatives to most other solvent based coatings by then too.
Making environmental product data freely available
Dulux Trade recognizes that it is important for our customers to be able to assess the sustainability of the products they use on their projects. That is why we publish externally accredited environmental product declarations (EPDs) for 23 key product ranges. These certificates provide externally verified life-cycle analysis of the impact of these products. EPD's can help you to exactly calculate the impact of our products and create more sustainable specifications.
Holding the Carbon Trust Standard
A sustainability treble
At AkzoNobel Decorative Paints UK we are especially proud to be the first company in its sector and one of the first four globally to be awarded all three Carbon Trust Standards for Carbon, Water and Waste Reduction. This standard recognises our achievements in successfully managing, measuring and reducing the greenhouse gas emission, water use and waste in our operations.
